Thank you so much! The other users may at times need to add and use their own files, such as PDF files or even video files. I guess I just need files in one folder to be write protected so that they cannot be deleted. Right now the computer only has one account, an administrator account. But I'm thinking of taking that administrator account and keeping the password to myself.
Then set up another local standard user account or two for the other users. And in those accounts make available on the computer files that they cannot delete. I can set up the new standard user account s but I don't know how to make files that they can have access to but not be able to delete. So far I've made another "normal" account for the computer. I was able to access it's folders via the "administrator's" account. I was able to go to properties for a particular folder and set it up so that the "administrator" has full control.
But as far as the "normal" account, I couldn't get it to be readable and fully write protected. Most of the options blocked the "normal" account user from accessing the folder. With just the option of "write" denied the "normal" account user could access the folder and use the contents without being able to make changes except So, I'm still trying to find a way to make a folder that only the "Administrator" can make changes to namely adding and deleting files to the folder and that at the same time the "normal users" can access and read the files, but can't make any changes to the folder or files including deletion.
I've tried finding this but I couldn't find any answers. I have the same question 1. Report abuse. Details required :.
