Pros: Price. Usually Asus is a top brand. Tech support is english you'll need it. Cons: EZ setup??? Not so much. Broke in 3 weeks. Tech support doesn't have replacement avaliable. Overall Review: I've been using Asus parts in my builds for years. Parts are top quality. So when I needed a new router I would think an Asus would be a good choice. Boy was I wrong. Router quit making Lan connection about 3 weeks after setup.
Asus tech support was helpfull, spoke english and quickly gave me RMA info. The routers been gone for 23 days now.
They've had it for Called them to find out what was the hold up. There responce is they do not have a replacement the has passed there "48 hour" test. Not only did mine quit working, they can't make a replacement pass inspection. Of course replacement is a refurbished. Asked them why they can't just send me a new one since they can't get a refurbished working. They said that's not possable.
So here I sit with no router. They have sent emails to there high ups to help me with my replacement but they do not respond to there own support team. Resetting default settings is especially helpful when you have changed and forgotten the login data for the user interface.
Please consider that not only will settings like IP address, username and password be set to factory settings, but all configurations you may have made will as well. Log in to the user interface of the router with your access data and execute the steps that are described in the user handbook. After you have successfully executed the steps mentioned above, the configuration of the router will be reset to factory settings. If you want to log in to the user interface, you have to use the preset login data.
Toggle navigation. Is done. This is really painful as I have to stand up and reset the router each time to make it work again. Overall Review: This is really weird as I was thinking that Newegg would be selling products of much better quality. I threw my previous router with g speed for this one but I am pretty disappointed as ASUS router's performance is far from my previous router.
I don;t know what to do with this one now. Cons: This isnt one of their great products. I have installed many a router, but this one fights you all the way.
I didn't have time to see it through to victory - I needed a quick solution. Pros: A bargain budget friendly solution for an open source routing platform. Once you get tomato firmware on this, it is perfect. Since the firmware isn't Asus', the only thing you can really say as a pro is that it looks good and is open source. Time will tell if it is built well. At the same price as buying a wifi add-in card, this was too good not to grab on black friday. I knew this going in and took a chance that the beta tomato firmware would work.
It does! This thing is rock solid with it. Any other firmware will brick the device and you will have to restore it according to Bluzbrother's instructions. To get the correct tomato firmware: Go to SourceForge. This would be so much easier if you could post links in the reviews Pros: I bricked the darn thing trying to put Tomato on it, but luckily the Factory restore allowed me to start over. I tried tomato-K WAN ports:.
WAN port s type:. WAN port auto cross-over:. LAN ports:. LAN ports type:. LAN ports auto cross-over:. NAT routing:. Port forwarding:. DHCP server:. DHCP client:. Maximum Wireless Speed:. WiFi standards supported:.
Access point.
