It appears that the models are very similar in audio quality but the has the edge for video and the Denon link. I ended up with the because I was not interested in the video or Denon link. A previous post here mentioned a remote control hack, and I've read things about firmware upgrades in the past. Any direction would be helpful. Location: England. I found the remote hack, and it appears to work. I only have a couple of non-region 1 discs to try, but the one I tried worked fine.

Here's a question. Suppose I update the firmware from my current player, as it is apparently out of date, to one from Denon Head office in the UK.
Now, this will lose the multi region option, and I am wondering if this handset hack will get Multiregion back again after updating to the latest firmware from Denon UK. Don't want to do anything until I know for sure, though. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. I'm talking about the here. Will this work on the A11 p[layer as well please? And will it hurt to try? I was about to buy one of these fine players and then heard playing R1's maybe R2's on a R1 player?
Looks great. Hack was successfully applied to a bought in Germany - no need for software. I am very impressed. Thank you for posting this Hack! Works a treat! I also succesfully applied the multi region procedure after the upgrade!
I am very happy with this! I have tried to read the firmware versions as described earlier but without succes. Does anybody know the new procedure. Where are people getting their firmware updates from? I contacted Denon two weeks ago who promised they'd stick the discs in the post but despite 3 phone calls they've still not turned up.
Hi Will this work on an A1, Also any idea how to check the current firmware settings. Mode Not Supported. V70SES Banned. It doesn't go into standby after inputting the code , any ideas anyone? I would call Denon tech support, they are the ones who are best suited to assist you.
Does not sound good. It did not update correctly and as such, it will not function until it is reflashed. I've done numerous updates to my various players and never had an issue, but you DO have to follow the instructions to the letter as it says right in the instructions that if you don't do it right, the player will not work.
